The history of scientific collaboration with ASIPP coincides for me with my overall carrier in fusion research. I first had the outstanding honor and pleasure during my PhD time to host and work in Cadarache with the late Professor Li Yu Yi, whose professional skills and human kindness are forever engraved in my mind. My first trip to Hefei, in the 1990s, together with Bertrand Beaumont, then intended to help the HT-7 facility to improve its ICRH power input into the plasma. This is when I met some of those who became extremely close friends later on, I mean Pr. Wan Yuanxi, Pr. Li Jiangang, and Mrs Dong Shaohua. Our friendship has certainly been "sealed" forever on the top of the famous Yellow Mountains, that since then became the symbol of the ASIPP-CEA cooperation, that we periodically visit. This cooperation has done nothing but developing during the past 25 years, and as we all took more responsibilities, with "prestigious newcomers" like Pr. Luo Delong, Pr. Wan Baonian, Pr. Song Yuntao, Dr Tuong Hoang, Dr Pascal Bayetti, Dr Maria Faury and Dr Gabriele Fioni, it now has turned into a real Franco-Chinese partnership between our respective institutions, for the best of ITER and Fusion.
