A Thirty-year Relation (1988-2018) with ASIPP and the Chinese People and Scientists

　　My first contact with my Chinese friends (and visit to China) was at the 1st Chinese Conference of Plasma Physics, organized by ASIPP in August 1988 at Huangshan (near Hefei), where I was invited by Professor Tsu-Li-Jiang (Deputy Director of ASSIP). My first scientific collaboration with the Chinese, however, was with my personal friend Professor Li-Ding, who invited me at ASIPP six years later in May 1994. The last and most important (but hopefullynot the final) collaboration with my Chinese colleagues at ASIPP, has been with Professor Liqun-Hu and Dr.Yang-Zhang at EAST, during my four-month invitation by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016.

　　Every time I am asked what has been my impression from this thirty-year relation with my Chinese colleagues, I emphasize on the excellent scientific hospitality and working environment, similar to which I had never known before. A promise I give to myself is to visit them again (if possible with my wife).
