摘 要:
As fusion experiments worldwide approach burning plasma conditions, energetic particles become increasingly central to plasma dynamics, introducing meso-scale couplings that bridge disparate spatial and temporal scales. In this regime, turbulence, zonal structures, and Alfvénic modes can no longer be treated independently. The collisionless nature of reactor-relevant plasmas places wave-particle resonant interactions at the heart of the problem, while macroscopic MHD instabilities such as kink and tearing modes further couple phase-space dynamics to large-scale transport. The resulting behavior is inherently nonlinear, multi-scale, and global, requiring a unified and self-consistent computational framework. Global nonlinear gyrokinetics provides precisely such a framework. We present state-of-the-art gyrokinetic simulations of multiscale plasma dynamics across a range of magnetic confinement configurations. The results include chirping Alfvénic modes, zonal flows excited by Toroidal Alfvén Eigenmodes, linear stability and electromagnetic turbulence in high-beta scenarios. Further examples include the nonlinear evolution of magnetic islands driven by tearing instabilities in tokamaks, turbulence-driven excitation of Alfvénic modes in Wendelstein 7-X, and nonlinear interchange instabilities in HELIAS stellarators operating in deeply MHD-unstable regimes. Together, these results demonstrate the power and versatility of global gyrokinetics in addressing the multi-physics challenges of future burning plasma devices.
