报告人介绍：Joao Bernardo is a nuclear fusion scientist, having a PhD in technological physics engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon, with working experience on various fusion machines such as JET, ToreSupra and ASDEX.  Born in France, he moved to Portugal in 1994 where he studied and completed his degree in Physics and Chemistry, he started his researcher career in 2008 working in Charge Exchange Recombination Spectroscopy. After participating in a few JET campaigns, he joined the JET Exploitation Unit (JEU) in 2015. With the termination of the NJOC contract, in 2022 he joined UKAEA as contractor to work within the JET Science Programme Support Office (JSPO) until 2025.

Joao main tasks within the JEU and JSPO were to monitor and suggest priorities to CODAS, codes and modelling, diagnostic requirements for JET programme, ensure diagnostic readiness for operation as well as rostering control room staff such as Diagnostic Coordinators and Visible System Operators among other competencies. This presentation, mainly focused on diagnostic related topics, will present how to optimize operations based on the experience acquired in different machines but especially from the development, at JET, of some tools in view of D-T operations.
