Dr. Byron Jay Peterson is a permanent scientist at the National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS) and the professor at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) in Japan.
At the same time, he is also a guest professor in Hokkaido University and involved in ITER as an ITER Science Fellow. Prof. Peterson received his Ph.D. from Univ. Wisc. Madison in 1994. He has worked in fusion research for over 40 years and has rich experience in plasma diagnostics. He invented the IR imaging Video Bolometer (IRVB) diagnostic and has applied it to many fusion devices, like LHD, KSTAR, W7-X …
报告摘要:
The bolometer diagnostic is an essential system for plasma radiated power measurement in fusion devices. Total radiated power and the emissivity profiles are important parameters for studies on power balance, transport and advanced plasma detachment control. This lecture will first provide an overview introduction for the bolometer diagnostics and will also focus on the IR bolometer technology. The utilization of synthetic diagnostics for diagnostic design and for the comparison of plasma models with experimental data will be explained. Examples of inverse problems to provide local information from line-integrated measurement will be shown.
